Great food, amazing views and a chilled out atmosphere… Yes please! Who wouldn’t?! And that’s exactly what I got last weekend when I fancied a change of scenery for a relaxing lunch. I ventured out to the Eastern Crescent of the Palm Jumeirah – somewhere I’d never been before – to The Beach House Restaurant in the recently opened Anantara Dubai, The Palm Resort. This luxury chain of resorts, that originated in Thailand, has an oriental design and feel, and the lobby staff welcome you in traditional Asian attire. Walking through the hotel, I gazed through jealous eyes at the hotel guests lounging around the beautifully-designed pool, and enjoying massages at the poolside spa. With the cheapest rooms coming in at around $800 a night, a visit to one of the restaurants is a great way to experience the hotel, unless you have deep pockets that is!
As the name suggests, The Beach House restaurant sits right on the beach, looking out at the fronds of The Palm, The Atlantis Hotel and the Dubai Marina Skyline. The chic, modern restaurant serves an array of Mediterranean cuisine, jugs of sangria and stylish cocktails, and I could have quite easily spent the entire afternoon gazing out on the turquoise waters.
Each dish we ordered was impeccably presented and tasted as good as it looked. I would especially recommend the calamari – you won’t be disappointed! The service was a little bit slower that in other restaurants I’ve been to in Dubai; however after an enormous serving of calamari, a bit of a break between courses was very welcome, and all too often in Dubai, your main course will be thrust in front of you the second you finish your starter!
Lunchtime is busy with hotel guests, families and couples enjoying lunch under the large parasols, and the evening has a chilled-out vibe with shisha, and a DJ playing relaxing tunes that you can sit back and enjoy.
The Restaurant is open from 12:00-3:00pm for lunch and dinner 6:30pm – 1:00am and I would recommend making a table reservation beforehand for lunch or dinner. If you don’t mind a bit on sun on your back, then request a table at the front of the restaurant to enjoy unspoiled views of The Palm.
Two courses with a glass of wine will set you back around AED 200-250 per person, and I would say it’s worth every penny! I will definitely be back.
